Russia has made no concessions to China regarding the price for gas deliveries, Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev told journalists Thursday.

ST. PETERSBURG, May 22 (RIA Novosti) – Russia has made no concessions to China regarding the price for gas deliveries, Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev told journalists Thursday.

“This [gas price] is very close to average European price,” the minister said.

Experts estimate that the gas price for China is between $350 and $390 per thousand cubic meters.

Responding to a question about the price, Ulyukayev said “this is commercial secret, but this is around this figure [$350].”

On Wednesday, Russian gas giant Gazprom and China’s CNPC struck a long-awaited contract worth $400 billion to supply 38 billion cubic meters of gas to China.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the price for gas under the deal is tied to the market price of oil and oil products and is satisfactory to both parties.
