MOSCOW, May 13 (RIA Novosti) – The preliminary volume of purchases by Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom this year is worth 600 billion rubles ($17.2 billion), the head of the company’s department on methodology and purchases told RIA Novosti Tuesday.

“The plan has been estimated at around 600 billion rubles, but it is highly likely that the purchase plan could be revised taking into account the fulfillment of new foreign projects,” Roman Zimonas said.

Rosatom’s production program is largely devoted to the construction of nuclear power plants abroad. “Our organizations participate in tenders with foreign customers and orders cannot be exactly planned,” he said.

Anti-Monopoly Service Head Igor Artemyev earlier said Rosatom’s purchase system was one of the best in Russia. Rosatom Director General Sergei Kiriyenko said the company managed to secure its international tenders due to the system.

In the past four years, the number of suppliers in the Russian atomic sector rose by 17 times, Zimonas said. “Holding open procedures allowed attracting producers interested in Rosatom supplies,” he said.

During this period, the amount of open procedures rose from 20 billion rubles to 500 billion rubles per year. Today, 99 percent of purchases in the atomic sector are carried out on digital trade platforms, he added.
