MOSCOW, March 20 (R-Sport) - New Zenit St. Petersburg coach Andre Villas-Boas said on Thursay that joining the Russian club was an easy decision.

The former Porto, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur coach was unveiled on Thursday and was to sign a two-year deal with the three-time Russian champions.

"I agreed to it easily because I saw the goals of the club and of the sponsors, and they correspond with mine," Villas-Boas said. "The first task is winning the championship. Zenit are capable of winning the nine games that remain of the season," he added.

"I hope to achieve big results with Zenit over the next two years," he said.

His first game in charge is to be Monday's league game against Krylya Sovetov Samara.

The 36-year-old's contract is expected to be worth 8.5 million euros a year. It makes him one of the world's best-paid managers at the Gazprom-backed club.

Villas-Boas replaces Italian coach Luciano Spalletti, who was fired last week after a poor run of form in the league with just one win in 11 games. Spalletti joined Zenit in December 2009, winning back-to-back Russian titles in his first two seasons at the club.

Caretaker coach Sergei Semak was in charge for Wednesday's Champions League last-16, second leg game at Borussia Dortmund that finished 2-1 to the Russians but saw them crash out 5-4 on aggregate.
