A team of British investigators will travel to Ukraine to help an inquiry into the theft of state assets, Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague said Tuesday.

LONDON, March 4 (RIA Novosti) – A team of British investigators will travel to Ukraine to help an inquiry into the theft of state assets, Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague said Tuesday.

Hague told members of parliament after a visit to Kiev that Ukrainian officials had handed over a list of suspects alleged to have been involved in stealing assets.

A British team will travel to Kiev soon to help gather evidence into the allegations.

"I discussed with the Prime Minister of Ukraine yesterday our eagerness to assist with the return of stolen assets and their recovery for Ukraine," Hague told parliament.

"For the first time yesterday the Ukrainian government gave us a list of those involved. They had not done so previously. I have agreed with the Prime Minister of Ukraine to send a team urgently to Ukraine in order to advise the Ukrainians on the information they would need to provide to us for us to be able to act on it."

Ukrainian prosecutors have accused ousted President Viktor Yanukovych and members of his family of siphoning billions of dollars out of the country to foreign bank accounts.

Yanukovych told a press conference in Russia last week, after fleeing anti-government protesters in Kiev, that he had no property or bank accounts abroad.
