TSKHINVALI, February 16 (RIA Novosti) – A house of the head of presidential administration in South Ossetia has been hit by a suspected hand grenade attack that caused no casualty, local officials said.

The explosive device went off outside the house of Boris Chochiev early Sunday. The official and his family members were not injured in the attack. The house suffered minor damage, a spokesman for the presidential administration said.

President of South Ossetia, Georgia’s breakaway region, Leonid Tibilov has called an emergency meeting of the local security council, seeking an investigation into the incident.

A search for the unidentified attackers is underway.

Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and another breakaway Georgian region, Abkhazia, shortly after a brief August 2008 war with Tbilisi.
