The head of Tatarstan Airlines was sacked on Wednesday, less than three weeks after a plane crash that killed all 50 people on board.

MOSCOW, December 4 (RIA Novosti) – The head of Tatarstan Airlines was sacked on Wednesday, less than three weeks after a plane crash that killed all 50 people on board.

“Today, the board of directors of Tatarstan Airlines dismissed Aksan Giniyatullin from the post of general director of the air company,” the Ministry of Transport of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan announced in a statement.

A Boeing 737 operated by the carrier crashed with 50 passengers and crew on board as it attempted to land at the airport in Kazan, Tatarstan’s capital, on a flight from Moscow on November 17. Irek Minnikhanov, a son of Tatarstan’s President Rustam Minnikhanov, and Lt. General Alexander Antonov, head of the republic’s branch of the Federal Security Service, were among those killed.
