Russia and Kazakhstan have signed a preliminary agreement to transport Russian oil through the Central Asian republic, the Prime news agency reported Monday.

YEKATERINBURG, November 11 (RIA Novosti) – Russia and Kazakhstan have signed a preliminary agreement to transport Russian oil through the Central Asian republic, the Prime news agency reported Monday.

The deal was signed by Igor Sechin, chief executive of Russia’s state-run oil company Rosneft, Sauat Mynbayev, head of Kazakh national oil company KazMunayGaz, and Kairgeldy Kabyldin, general director of Kazakh national pipeline operator KazTransOil.

A source in the Russian delegation earlier told the news agency that the Russian and Kazakh companies planned to sign numerous oil deals to ensure the transit of Russian oil products via Kazakhstan’s pipeline system.
