MOSCOW, September 16 (R-Sport) - Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the world No. 32, has confirmed a two-prong attack on the Kremlin Cup in her native Russia next month, going for both the singles and doubles titles.
The 22-year-old right-hander has never made it beyond the first round in the singles at the WTA hard-court event, and lost in the quarterfinals of the doubles in 2006, results she hopes to atone for at the October 12-20 edition in the Russian capital.
Asked whether she'll be gunning for both titles, Pavlyuchenkova responded: "Yes, in both!" in comments to the tournament website.
"At the end of the season we don't have much energy left, and it's always tough to play at home, but I always will at the Kremlin Cup with great pleasure and every year I hope for the best outcome."
The Kremlin Cup is a Premier-level event at the Olympiisky Sports Complex in Moscow with a prize fund of $797,707.
Russia's top entrant is world No. 19 Maria Kirilenko, who is aiming to go one better than her 2010 final defeat to Victoria Azarenka.
