MOSCOW, August 16 (R-Sport) – World and Olympic triple jump gold medalist Christian Taylor reached the final at the world athletics championships in Moscow on Friday, as did his main rivals.

Taylor leapt 17.36 meters at his first attempt, the third-best result overall behind Teddy Tamgho of France, who managed 17.41, and Yoann Rapiner, also from France.

"That was the plan, to qualify easily with just one strong attempt," Taylor said.

The 12 qualifiers also included Olympic bronze medalist Will Claye of the U.S. and Cuban youngster Pedro Pablo Pichardo, who has the longest jump this year.

The final is Sunday.
