IVANOVO, July 22 (RIA Novosti) - Two men with previous criminal records beat another man, his wife and teenage son with baseball bats in a road rage attack in the south of Russia, local police said Monday.
The incident occured when a car passenger kicked a motorcyclist while overtaking him on a highway 54 kilometers (34 miles) from the city of Kursk, police said, without saying when the incident happened. The car then stopped and the passenger and driver attacked the motorcyclist with bats.
The motorcyclist’s wife and 13-year-old son, who were riding in a minivan behind, ran to help him and were also beaten up, while numerous eyewitnesses looked on without trying to stop the attack or call the police.
The victims themselves had to call law enforcement for help.
The police later identified the attackers, and detained one of them. The men face up to seven years in prison if found guilty of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
