MOSCOW, July 19 (R-Sport) - Russian team FC Kuban's first-ever European campaign will begin against Scottish football club Motherwell in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

The Krasnodar-based side earned their shot at the trophy by finishing a highest-ever fifth in the Russian Premier League last season. They are hoping to join fellow Russians Spartak Moscow in the final playoff round.

The first leg is to be played in Scotland on August 1, with the return leg in the southern Russian city on August 8.

Meanwhile, Rubin Kazan learned their would-be opponents in the third round too. Kurban Berdyev's side will face Randers FC of Denmark should they get past Serbian minnows FC Jagodina in the second round.

Rubin won 3-2 in the first leg in Serbia on Thursday, with the second leg in Kazan next week. All are hoping to join Anzhi Makhachkala in the group stage of Europe's second-tier competition.
