Award-winning Russian-American artist Zhenya Gershman has debuted her new work “Marks” as the inaugural exhibit of the Hinge Modern gallery in Culver City, California.

WASHINGTON, July 3 (RIA Novosti) — Award-winning Russian-American artist Zhenya Gershman has debuted her new work “Marks” as the inaugural exhibit of the Hinge Modern gallery in Culver City, California.

Described by the gallery in a press release as “The culmination of a 12-year project between Gershman and her model, Mark Snyder, “Marks” is both a literal title referring to the complexity of a single being, as well as a metaphor for the artist’s unique mark-making process across time.”

Born in Moscow, Gershman is the granddaughter of the Soviet poet Mikhail Matusovsky, who wrote the lyrics to the legendary song “Moscow Nights.” She held her first solo exhibit in St. Petersburg at the age of 14 and today her work is featured in numerous respected private and public collections, including The J. Paul Getty Research Institute.

“Marks” will run at the Hinge Modern gallery until July 13.
