MOSCOW, June 5 (R-Sport) – Reigning French Open champion Maria Sharapova came back from a set down to beat world No. 18 Jelena Jankovic in the quarterfinals at the tournament on Wednesday.

Sharpova was wiped out in the first and made an uncharacteristic 45 unforced errors on her way to a 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory.

“Jelena played very well today, she was very aggressive,” Sharapova said in televised comments. “I needed to change things around [after the first set] and I’m so happy I managed to win today.”

In the semifinal, Sharapova will face world No. 3 Victoria Azarenka, who eliminated 12th-seeded Russian Maria Kirilenko 7-6(3), 6-2.

“It will be a very tough match, we always have tough head-to-heads and I’m looking forward to this match,” Sharapova said.

In the first set, Jankovic won 27 points, with 20 of them coming from Sharapova’s unforced errors. Former U.S. Open champion Jankovic offered up four break points to Sharapova in the second set and decider, and the Russian wasted none on the way to victory.

The second semifinal pits world No. 1 Serena Williams and last year’s French Open runner-up Sara Errani.
