OMSK, May 29 (RIA Novosti) – A Siberian man who drunkenly killed his girlfriend’s 10-year-old daughter with “numerous ax blows” has been sentenced to 16 years in prison, Russia’s Investigative Committee said Wednesday.
On the night of February 6, Andrei Vinter, 29, in a state of extreme intoxication, hit the girl on the head several times with an ax because she failed to obey his orders while her mother was away at work, the committee said in a statement. Some Russian media identified the weapon as a “meat ax” and it was unclear whether the child was hit with the blade or the blunt end.
The girl later succumbed to the injuries at a hospital, the Investigative Committee said. Vinter will serve his sentence in a high security prison.
