MOSCOW, April 20 (R-Sport) - Russia took bronze at the world sledge hockey championships Saturday, bringing a successful end to the first appearance by next year’s Winter Paralympic hosts.

Russia beat the Czech Republic 3-0 in Goyang, South Korea, with goals from Ruslan Tuchin, Evgeny Petrov and Vasily Varnakov.

The result raises hopes of a Paralympic medal for Russia at Sochi 2014 in March, while the Czechs faced the agony of losing the bronze medal game for the second year in a row.

Reigning champion the United States plays Canada in the gold medal game later Saturday.
