Devotees of boiled sausage in Russia’s Ural Mountains could be left unhappy after local prosecutors made mincemeat of an enterprising businessman for violating the Olympics trademark.

MOSCOW, February 6 (R-Sport) - Devotees of boiled sausage in Russia’s Ural Mountains could be left unhappy after local prosecutors made mincemeat of an enterprising businessman for violating the Olympics trademark.

The move is reminiscent of London 2012 organizers’ much-criticized legal threats against café owners and small shopkeepers to stop them cashing in on the Games.

“In the Chelyabinsk Region, the sale of boiled sausage under the Olympic name has been stopped in accordance with demand from the prosecutors,” the Russian Prosecutor General’s office said in a website statement.

The offending sausage belonged to a local entrepreneur, the statement said.

Including the case in a national message Prosecutor General’s office could serve as a warning to other would-be infringers of Olympic trademarks.

Other cases of Olympic trademark trouble have been reported in at least six other regions, including six cases in the center of host city Sochi itself.
