CAIRO, January 27 (RIA Novosti) – Four people died and more than 400 others were injured in the Egyptian city of Port Said on Sunday during a funeral procession for the victims of Saturday's violence, the country’s health ministry said.

Tens of thousands of mourners attended a mass funeral on Sunday for more than 30 people who were killed in Port Said in the previous day in clashes between police and soccer fans.

New clashes began on Sunday while coffins were carried through the streets. Rioters attacked police and defense ministry’s buildings. Police used tear gas to disperse crowds.

Egypt's Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim was forced out of a mosque in Cairo where a funeral ceremony was held for a police officer who died in the Port Said tragedy. Protesters demanded death penalty for those guilty in the officer’s death.

Saturday’s violence erupted after a court handed down death sentences to all 21 defendants in a trial that is part of the high-profile case of the so-called “Port Said tragedy,” Egypt’s worst-ever football fans clash and stampede that left at least 72 people dead and another 254 injured last February.
