Russia’s main Christmas tree was cut down in Moscow Region’s Dmitrov forest district on Monday. The tree, which serves as both a New Year tree and a Christmas tree, will be installed in the Moscow Kremlin’s Cathedral Square.

School students attended the event, which included a spectacular fireworks show, as well as singing and dancing. The performance’s main guests, Father Frost and Snow Maiden, arrived by helicopter

The tree will be set up in the Moscow Kremlin’s Cathedral Square on December 18. Five days later, it will be decorated with New Year toys and garlands depicting the colors of the Russian flag
