A former high-ranking FSB official suspected of bribe-taking and fraud has once again escaped from custody, the chief military investigation department of the Russian Investigative Committee said on Thursday.

MOSCOW, November 29 (RIA Novosti) - A former high-ranking FSB official suspected of bribe-taking and fraud has once again escaped from custody, the chief military investigation department of the Russian Investigative Committee said on Thursday.

Pyotr Samarsky, a former head of the Federal Security Service (FSB) anti-extremism department in the Volgograd Region, made his first escape - while being transported from Moscow to Volgograd - following an arrest in May 2009.

He was on the federal wanted list for three years after that, but turned himself in to investigators in May 2012.

"On November 28, 2012, Samarsky was taken to the military investigation department in the Volgograd Region to familiarize himself with materials of his case. At about 4:30 p.m.[10:30 a.m. GMT] he escaped from the building,” the department said in a statement.

Samarsky is suspected of receiving more than 3.7 million rubles in bribes (about $120,000) from May 2005 to December 2008. He is also suspected of being a part of attempted fraud committed by a group of people.
