MOSCOW, November 28 (RIA Novosti) - At least 21 people were killed and about 70 injured in a series of car bomb blasts in central and northern Iraq late on Tuesday, Al-Jazeera reported.

Three blasts, targeting Shia mosques in the capital Baghdad, occurred at nightfall, shortly after evening prayers.

Three car bombs also exploded simultaneously in the oil-rich city of Kirkuk. Two of them targeted Kurdish districts and one went off near the headquarters of a major Kurdish party.

A few minutes later, two bombs exploded in a market in the Sunni-dominated town of Hawija west of Kirkuk.

Explosive devices were also detonated near houses of Iraqi army servicemen, leaving five of them injured.

The blasts came a day after the government and leaders of Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region agreed to ease tensions in northern Iraqi regions.
