MOSCOW, November 26 (R-Sport) - Gagarin Cup holder Dynamo Moscow suffered a shock 5-2 defeat on home ice at the hands of outsider Atlant Moscow Region on Monday.

The win allowed Atlant to go up from last place in the Western Conference to 11th as third-placed Dynamo saw its three-game winning streak end in emphatic style.

The visitors went ahead in the fifth minute as Andreas Engqvist pounced on a loose puck in the left circle and beat goaltender Alexei Volkov in a one-on-one situation.

For Atlant’s second, Fyodor Tyutin took Nikolai Zherdev’s pass from behind the net and snapped it over Volkov’s glove in the 26th minute.

Atlant went 3-0 up at 35:53, as Volkov cleared a Sandis Ozolins shot to his left side, where Maxim Mayorov was able to sweep it into the open net.

Washington Capitals teammates Alex Ovechkin and Niklas Backstrom both recorded an assist for Janne Jalasvaara's goal shortly before the second break, but Alexander Shevchenko made it 4-1 two minutes into the third, prompting Dynamo coach Oleg Znarok to swap the troubled Volkov for substitute goaltender Alexander Sharychenkov.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov scored his first goal since returning to his old team from North America as the Capitals duo of Ovechkin and Backstrom assisted again at 54:51.

Dynamo pulled the goalie with 1:18 to play only for Atlant to score an empty-net goal through Zherdev.
