MOSCOW, November 10 (R-Sport) - Terek Grozny bounced back from two straight defeats as they ran out 2-1 winners at home to Russian Premier League strugglers Mordovia Saransk on Saturday.

Terek leapfrog FC Kuban to take fourth place and go to within five points of leaders CSKA Moscow, while Mordovia remain 16th and last, three points adrift of safety.

Terek took the lead on 11 minutes with Jonathan Legear’s first goal for the club as the Belgian midfielder stretched to tap in Igor Lebedenko’s low cross.

Brazilian striker Ailton made it 2-0 on 66 minutes with his sixth goal in 10 games for Terek, taking advantage of lax marking to head in a corner from Blagoy Georgiev, who had hit the bar with a free-kick four minutes earlier.

Mordovia’s Mukhametshin brothers combined to give the visitors a stoppage-time consolation goal, Rustem Mukhametshin teeing up his brother Ruslan with a clever heel-flick before Ruslan drove the ball in low to score off the post.

Terek then almost scored another, but the Mordovia defense were able to clear a Georgiev effort off the line.

Mordovia are now on a run of four losses.
