MOSCOW, November 8 (R-Sport) - Anzhi's defeat of Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday is a step towards European domination for the big-spending Russian side, defender Christopher Samba said.
Tall Ivorian Lacina Traore scored the crucial goal in the 1-0 win with an elegant lob to send Anzhi top of Group A.
"We expect that," Samba said when asked about the win.
"We are a team who want to become one big team in Europe, and we have to expect to compete against the best, whether that's Liverpool, Manchester, whatever, we have to play against them, it'll be every time a tough game."
Less than two years after previously little known Anzhi were bought by billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, the Caucasus side are challenging for the Russian title and are second in their domestic league.
