MOSCOW, November 2 (R-Sport) - Metallurg Magnitogorsk beat Vityaz Chekhov 4-1 at home Friday as lockout signings Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Gonchar both racked up points.

Magnitogorsk is third in the East with the same number of points as leader Traktor Chelyabinsk and on a four-game winning streak, while Vityaz is eight in the West, just inside the playoff zone.

Metallurg dominated throughout as Vityaz produced only 13 shots at Georgi Gelashvili’s goal all game.

However, it was Vityaz’s Artyom Korolyov who broke the deadlock after 38 minutes, although Dmitry Kazionov equalized just 30 seconds later.

Three third-period goals sealed the victory for Magnitogorsk, with Malkin scoring his eighth goal for the team and Gonchar recording two assists.

Elsewhere, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl notched up an on-the-road win over Salavat Yulaev Ufa as the 2011 champion lost 4-3 on penalty shots.

Lokomotiv is second in the West with five consecutive victories and one point less than leader Dynamo Moscow, while Salavat Yulaev is seventh in the East.

Lokomotiv looked set to win the encounter in regulation as Columbus Blue Jackets center Artem Anisimov made the score 3-2 with four minutes to go, after earlier providing an assist.

But Tomas Rolinek leveled the score two minutes from the final horn and after goalless overtime, former Salavat Yulaev forward Viktor Kozlov scored the deciding penalty shot for Lokomotiv.

Another on-the-road victory went to Avangard Omsk, which beat Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk 2-0.

Avangard is second in the East and without a loss in the last four games, while Yugra is tenth.

After 55 goalless minutes, Dmitry Semin scored for last season’s Gagarin Cup runner-up Avangard before Alexander Popov added an empty-net goal.

Avangard goaltender Eduard Reizvikh stopped 23 shots to record his first shutout of the season.

In Chelyabinsk, Eastern Conference leader Traktor beat Severstal Cherepovets 3-1 at home.

After Traktor scored twice in the second period to make the score 2-1, the visitors applied pressure on Andrey Mezin’s goal in the third, outshooting Traktor 18-4.

But Mezin dealt with all of the shots while his counterpart Vasily Koshechkin let in a shot from Dmitry Ryabykin 10 minutes from the end.

Severstal is sixth in the West after two consecutive defeats.

Elsewhere, Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg suffered its eight straight defeat at the hands of visitor Dynamo Minsk, which prevailed 4-3 in overtime.
