MOSCOW, November 1 (R-Sport) - BC Khimki small forward Sergei Monia told R-Sport on Thursday that only a win will be good enough for his team in Friday's Euroleague clash with Olimpija Ljubljana.
Eurocup holder Khimki faces Slovenia's Olimpija at home with both teams on 1-2 records, as is Spanish team Cantu in fourth.
Olimpija is ranked fifth in the six-team group, a place above Khimki because of points difference.
“Khimki needs to beat Olympia badly to improve our group standings where we share the last place with the Slovenian team and Cantu,” Monia said.
Monia, who was the part of the Russia national team that won Olympic bronze in London, warned against overconfidence.
“A lot of people call Olimpija an outsider. But Khimki is also an outsider now,” Monia said.
“Nobody is walking in the clouds, we just should show our game.”
Monia, 29, has made 26 NBA appearances for the Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings.
