Doubles specialists Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak beat Italian pair Simone Bolelli and Daniele Bracciali 7-5, 6-3 on Saturday to win the Kremlin Cup title.

For Czech Cermak it is a second-consecutive triumph in the Russian capital after he teamed up with Filip Polasek of Slovakia to win it last year.

Cermak and Mertinak, another Slovak, were beaten in the 2009 final by Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and Spain’s Marcel Granollers.

The opponents traded early breaks in the first set before world No. 33 Cermak and No. 50 Mertinak broke the Italians’ service to take it 7-5.

The Italians mounted a short-lived comeback from 5-1 down in the second set but finally surrendered it 6-3.

It was only the fourth tournament of the year together for Cermak and Mertinak, with their previous best a third-round appearance at the U.S. Open in August.

They take home $37,000 in prize money.
