The KHL registered Tuesday a one-year contract between former Chicago Blackhawks forward Mark Cullen and Russian team Vityaz Chekhov.

In August Vityaz general manager Alexei Zhamnov, also an-ex Chicago forward, said he had reached a verbal agreement with the 33-year-old American, now the fifth foreigner on the Vityaz roster.

“Cullen is with the team now and may play in the next match on the calendar,” the KHL reported on its website.

Cullen spent three seasons in the NHL with the Blackhawks, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Florida Panthers, playing in 38 games and scoring 17 points.

He was included in the United States squad for the World Championships in 2006, where he made seven appearances and scored three points.

Vityaz has won two of its first three games in the KHL this season after finishing last in the standings last campaign.
