* UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday called for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear problem, his spokesman Farhan Haq told journalists in New York.

* Participants of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran have unanimously adopted the summit’s final resolution, which supported Iran, the Press TV state-owned English-language news channel reported.

* Twelve people were killed and 59 others injured when two suicide bombers struck a U.S.-Afghan military base in central Afghanistan on Saturday, the Pajhwok news agency said.

* Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has accepted acting prime minister Omurbek Babanov’s resignation, the presidential press service said on Saturday.

* A Russian Navy group has visited Japan’s naval base Maizuru and is on its way to the home port of Vladivostok, a Pacific Fleet spokesman said on Saturday.

* Eduard Limonov, leader of the unregistered Other Russia party, was released along with some 30 other participants in a protest rally at Moscow’s Triumfalnaya Square, a city police spokesman said on Saturday.
