Czech police detained a man alleged to have been planning terrorist attacks similar to the massacre carried out by Anders Behring Breivik in Norway in 2011, local media said.

The unnamed 29-year-old caught the police’s eye by using “Breivik” as an online nickname, Czech News Agency said on Saturday.

But the similarity ran deeper: when investigators searched the man’s home, they uncovered firearms, explosives and elements of police uniforms. Breivik, a rightwing radical who is on trial in Norway, killed 77 by planting a bomb in Oslo while going on a shooting rampage on the isle of Utoya dressed as a police officer.

The Czech Breivik admirer was once convicted of bomb blasting in the past, and had a remotely controlled explosive device installed in his home at the time of arrest, though police gave him no chance to set the bomb off, the report said.

The explosive device was made from an aircraft bomb, BBC said. However, police were unsure the man could actually set it off remotely, the Czech news agency said.

The man’s motives remained unclear, as were his prospective targets.

The suspect faces charges of endangering public peace and illegal arms possession, but psychiatrists are yet to rule on his sanity, reports said. He was detained last week, but the incident was not reported before.
