Usain Bolt scorched to Olympic gold in the men's 200 meters on Thursday, blazing into the history books as the first sprinter to retain both sprint titles.

The 25-year-old Jamaican raced home in 19.32 to beat teammate Yohan Blake, who ran 19.44, into silver.

"I did what I wanted. I came out of a rough season and I did what I had to do," said Bolt.

Bolt won both the 100m and 200m sprints in Beijing and recorded the second-fastest 100 meters ever of 9.63 seconds on Sunday to pip Blake to that gold medal too.

"It's what I came here to do," Bolt said. "I'm now a legend, I'm also the greatest athlete to live. I am in the same category as Michael Johnson," he said of the American former 200 meters and 400 meters world record holder.

"The 200m was harder than I expected. I could feel the pressure coming off the bend and that's when I had to focus."

Warren Weir took the bronze in 19.84 to make it a Jamaican clean sweep.

"This moment here is special for Jamaica. This is so good to get the one, two, three," said Blake.

Weir was blown away to be in such great company on the podium.

"It's just a wonderful feeling and I love London," he said. "It's a great honor to do what my country wanted."
