Germany's double world champion Robert Harting hurled his way to Olympic gold in the men's discus on Tuesday, with Ehsan Hadadi of Iran taking the silver.
Bronze went to Estonia's defending champion Gerd Kanter.
Harting, unbeaten in the last two years, threw 68.27 meters, two meters short of his world-leading mark this year.
Hadadi got close, posting 68.18, with Beijing winner Kanter managing 68.03.
