There is no need for new Russia coach Fabio Capello to change the team’s style because its familiar high-tempo football will be enough to secure a place at the 2014 World Cup, Zenit St. Petersburg and Russia midfielder Vladimir Bystrov said Monday.

Capello took over as Russia coach last month following the team’s embarrassing group stage exit at Euro 2012, after which coach Dick Advocaat joined PSV Eindhoven.

“If the Russian national team shows its good fast football, I think we’ll have a good chance to go straight out of the group,” Bystrov said, referring to direct qualification rather than through the playoffs.

Bystrov has amassed 35 caps for Russia since 2004, but was absent from the Euro 2012 squad after a lengthy period of injuries and poor form.
