Fabio Capello's incoming assistant coach in the Russian national team has spoken of his excitement about the new challenge.

Oreste Cinquini is abandoning the post of sporting director at Serie C-2 side Unione Venezia to provide technical assistance to Capello, who is expected to be officially unveiled next week.

"For me, it opens a new adventure and an ambitious challenge," Cinquini was quoted as saying to the Venezia website.

Venezia are owned by Russian businessman and former politician Yuri Korablin.

"I thank everyone for their cooperation, first of all, president Korablin but especially the city of Venice, to which I will always remain tied."

A source with the Russian FA told R-Sport on Friday that Capello has chosen Cinquini, a former Lazio and Parma sporting director, to play a similar role to that of Franco Baldini during Capello's four-year spell in charge of England.

Baldini took care of technical issues such as scouting and staff management.

Capello and Cinquini are in Russia this weekend to watch the first round of Premier League matches; CSKA Moscow vs. FC Rostov on Saturday and Zenit St. Petersburg vs. Amkar Perm on Sunday.
