Italian coach Fabio Capello is still in negotiations over the vacant Russia post, and the deal is yet to be finalized, the Russian FA said Wednesday.

A source close to talks told R-Sport last week the 66-year-old Italian was to be offered two-year deal, and Capello himself told Spanish sports daily Marca that an agreement had been reached.

But the Russian Football Union issued a stern reminder Wednesday that it's not all done and dusted.

"The RFU is at the stage of negotiations with representatives of the Italian coach Fabio Capello," a website statement said.

"At the moment representatives of the RFS are discussing details of an agreement with a group of foreign lawyers, the only individuals with the exclusive authority as given by Fabio Capello to conduct talks," the union added.

"The RFU would like to draw attention to the fact that any other information that appears in the media is not trustworthy."

The union said that should the parties agree "on all points" and "the contract between the RFU and Fabio Capello is signed, the RFU will immediately announce the news on its official site."

If confirmed, Capello's first game in charge would be August 15 friendly against the Ivory Coast in Moscow.

His first competitive fixtures would be 2014 World Cup qualifiers on September 7 and September 11, first at home to Northern Ireland and then away to Israel.
