A female investigator in St. Petersburg was kicked off the force after police found her husband in possession of five stolen cars and a tractor.

The man was exposed by police tracking a stolen Lexus, which was discovered along with the other vehicles in the village of Levashovo, part of St. Petersburg, city police said on Monday.

The 41-year-old house owner was arrested, the police said. It did not release his name, but said he was married to a member of the force, district investigator Olga Tolokonnikova.

Tolokonnikova was fired after her husband was detained, the report said. The man was charged with large-scale theft, punishable with up to ten years in prison, and the Investigative Committee – Russia's analogue of the FBI – is investigating Tolokonnikova's involvement in the car theft.
