Art can sometimes make for strange reactions. A young adherent of Zen leaped out of a mall window in southern Russia after watching the blockbuster Spider Man, media reported on Friday.
The 24-year-old man, whose name was withheld, jumped off the third floor window of a mall in the city of Krasnodar on Thursday.
He survived, but is in intensive care with head injuries, Yugopolis.ru local news website quoted regional investigators as saying.
The man also drank a handful of Corvalol sedative pills before attempting suicide, Komsomolskaya Pravda daily said.
The man attempted suicide after watching Amazing Spider Man, Lifenews.ru said. The reboot of the popular film series starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone premiered in Russia on Thursday.
Investigators remained puzzled at the man’s motives for suicide, reports said. Text messages found on his cell phone identified him as a follower of Zen, but it was immediately unclear whether Spider-Man or the teaching of Buddha had anything to do with his decision to kill himself.
