Elsewhere, French Open runner-up Sara Errani of Italy breezed past 29-year-old Briton Anne Keothavong 6-1, 6-1.
Tenth seed Errani next plays Kazakh wild card Yaroslava Shvedova, who beat Dutch world No. 86 Kiki Bertens 6-4, 6-4.
