Russian Youth Beats 40-year World Long Jump Record

A Russian long jumper has broken the world record among junior athletes that stood for 40 years with a jump of 8.35 meters (27 feet 4.75 inches), the All-Russian Federation of Track and Field's website reported on Wednesday.

A Russian long jumper has broken the world record among junior athletes that stood for 40 years with a jump of 8.35 meters (27 feet 4.75 inches), the All-Russian Federation of Track and Field's website reported on Wednesday.

Sergei Morgunov made the world record during a junior track and field event in the city of Cheboksary, beating the record held by an American, Randy Williams, by one centimeter (0.39 inches).

The adult world record in the long jump event is currently held by American Mike Powell at 8.95 meters (29' 4").
