Croatia forward Eduardo thinks counterattacking football is the key to getting a result against Spain

Croatia forward Eduardo thinks counterattacking football is the key to getting a result against Spain.

Croatia need to win or achieve a high-scoring draw, while a loss would leave them to rely on Ireland to get at least a draw against Italy.

"Our chances will come from counterattacks," said Eduardo.

"I don't think we'll attack Spain from the beginning – it all depends on how much space they leave us."

Even though Ireland lost 4-0 to Spain on Thursday, the Irish performance provided a good example of how to play against Spain, he said.

"I think we will get chances. We saw Ireland made two opportunities to score against them and I think we will have our chances too."

Eduardo, 29, was born in Brazil but has played for Croatia since 2004, scoring 23 goals in 49 appearances.

He switched to Shakhtar Donetsk in 2010 from Arsenal, after failing to hold down a first-team place.
