Inter Milan striker Diego Forlan said Friday he intends to remain at the Italian giants despite interest from Atletico Mineiro

The Brazilian club made a formal bid for Forlan on Wednesday after he disappointed in his first season at the club, scoring just two league goals.

"Yes," Forlan said when asked whether he would remain an Inter player, adding: "I have a contract."

The Uruguay striker dismissed claims of tension between him and coach Andrea Stramaccioni when asked if he was able to work with the coach, who took over in March.

"Logically, yes, he's a good coach," he said.

Forlan was in Moscow for Uruguay's friendly with Russia, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

"We knew that Russia was not an easy team," Forlan said. "I enjoyed the match. We tried to achieve the better result but it didn't work out. I don't understand how the Russians scored that goal."

Forlan, 33, has also played at Manchester United and Atletico Madrid in a 15-year career, and was named player of the tournament at the 2010 World Cup.
