Ajax striker Dmitri Bulykin will not agree to extend his contract at Ajax Amsterdam despite the club’s willingness to keep him, his agent Andrei Golovash told RIA Novosti on Friday.

Bulykin has averaged a goal every 70 minutes for Frank de Boer’s team this season, almost all as a substitute, as he has started just four games this season in all competitions.

“Our opening position was not to sign an extension with Ajax," Golovash said.

“Even though the coach Frank de Boer said in May the club was going to discuss that, we find that there’s no purpose to staying because Dmitry hasn’t had enough playing time there.”

The Russian forward is already considering new contract offers, Golovash added.

Bulykin, 32, moved to Ajax in August from fellow after becoming the Dutch league’s second top scorer with 21 goals while on loan at ADO Den Haag from Anderlecht in the 2010-11 season.

He has scored 10 times in 26 appearances for Ajax, and has seven goals in 15 appearances including scoring the winner in a 2-1 group stage victory at Euro 2004 over eventual champions Greece.

Bulykin has not played for Russia since 2004 and was left out of Russia’s preliminary Euro 2012 squad, announced Friday. He has repeatedly claimed that Russia coach Dick Advocaat refuses to select him for personal reasons.
