Dynamo Moscow and Russia midfielder Igor Semshov has apologised for claiming that the team is "ashamed" of coach Sergei Silkin's tactics, in a club statement Friday.

Semshov, Dynamo's joint-top scorer in the league this season, refused to shake Silkin's hand after being substituted in the 59th minute of Wednesday's derby clash with Spartak Moscow with the score at 1-1.

After the match, Semshov said he was taken off because he was pushing for the win, contrary to Silkin's defensive mentality.

"At the moment we're being told to park the bus, and if anyone attempts to go forward, he immediately gets substituted. We're all ashamed of football like this, but maybe the coach likes it."

Silkin keeps leading players such as ex-Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin on the bench for personal reasons despite previous good form, Semshov suggested.

"The people who achieved good results in the beginning of the season are out of favor now," he said when asked about Voronin's absence from the starting lineup.

Dynamo issued a statement from Semshov on Friday in which he apologized to the coach, his teammates and the fans.

"I understand that I reacted inappropriately, demonstrating disrespect to the coach and provoking a scandal," he said.

"I was overflowing with emotion, thinking I might still be useful on the pitch."

The Spartak game ended 1-1, dropping Dynamo from second to third place in Russian Premier League, and out of the Champions League qualification places. Two games remain.

Zenit St. Petersburg secured the title with a 2-1 home win against Dynamo on Saturday.
