Four people died when an SM 2000 turboprop plane crashed during a training flight in Russia’s central Kaluga Region on Friday, a spokesman for the rescue operation headquarters said.

“Four people died - a woman and three men,” the spokesman said.

A source in the region’s law enforcement structures said the plane was on a training flight.

SM 2000 is a light multipurpose six-seat single-engine aircraft, able to cover distances of up to 1,600 km. It is produced by the Smolensk Aircraft Plant in western Russia.
