British boxer Dereck Chisora will fight Russian WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin “one day,” he told RIA Novosti on Saturday.

Rumors of an upcoming bout between the two were sparked when Chisora arrived in Moscow on Friday with Povetkin’s promoter Vlad Hrunov, who said that he was trying to arrange a fight in the fall.

“One day I will, but not now,” Chisora said, when asked whether the bout was on the cards.

Chisora is in the process of appealing a March 14 decision by the British Boxing Board of Control to strip him of his license after a brawl with compatriot David Haye in Germany last month.

Chisora, currently in Moscow to watch Wednesday's WBA interim cruiserweight bout between Denis Lebedev and challenger Shawn Cox, told RIA Novosti on Friday that he was confident of regaining his license.

He also said that he could fight under a Russian boxing license "if they'll give me one."

Chisora’s short-term goal is to regain his fitness following his failed title shot at Vitaly Klitschko last month, he said Saturday.

“My next competition is with myself, because I need to lose weight,” he said.

“I’m going to be in the gym for the next month and a half. The Cannes film festival is on, so I can’t go looking like this.”

Chisora lost on points to Klitschko, and has lost three of his last four fights. He has a 15-3 record, with ten knockouts.

Povetkin is a 24-0 fighter who is carving out a path to a shot at one of the Klitschko brothers. The Russian is rumored to be sizing up a July 14 title defense against U.S. veteran heavyweight Hasim Rahman.
