Dereck Chisora says he is confident of regaining his British boxing license, telling RIA Novosti on Friday that he brings too much entertainment to the sport for his disqualification to stand.

The British boxer is in the process of appealing a March 14 decision by the British Boxing Board of Control to strip him of his license after a brawl with compatriot David Haye in Germany last month.

"The English will give me my license back," he told RIA Novosti in Moscow. You tell me another great athlete in England who can fight like me. And that's how I know. I bring entertainment to the sport."

He had earlier told RIA Novosti that he could fight under a Russian license "if they'll give me one."

Chisora arrived in the Russian capital on Friday ostensibly to attend next week's WBA interim cruiserweight bout between Denis Lebedev and challenger Shawn Cox.

It was not clear if Chisora had made any approaches to Russian boxing authorities to apply for a license.

Igor Mazurov, the general secretary of the Russian Professional Boxing Federation, told RIA Novosti that the body is within its rights to issue licenses to whomever it likes, regardless of citizenship.

The British Boxing Board of Control revoked his license indefinitely after ruling that Chisora "is not a fit and proper person to hold a license."
