Dereck Chisora told RIA Novosti on Friday that he could fight under a Russian boxing license "if they'll give me one."

The British boxer is in the process of appealing the decision to strip him of his British license after a brawl with compatriot David Haye in Germany last month.

Asked if he would fight under a Russian license if the appeal fails, Chisora said: "If they'll give me one."

Chisora arrived in the Russian capital on Friday ostensibly to attend next week's WBA interim cruiserweight bout between Denis Lebedev and challenger Shawn Cox.

It was not clear if Chisora had made any approaches to Russian boxing authorities to apply for a license.

Igor Mazurov, the general secretary of the Russian Professional Boxing Federation, told RIA Novosti that the body is within its rights to issue licenses to whomever it likes, regardless of citizenship.

Chisora got into a brawl with Haye in Munich on February 19 after losing to Vitali Klitschko in the post-fight news conference. He had also slapped the Ukrainian at the weigh-in and spat water in the face of Wladimir Klitschko in the ring before the bout.

The British Boxing Board of Control revoked his license indefinitely after ruling that Chisora "is not a fit and proper person to hold a license."
