The Russian Football Union has handed down fines of up to $10,000 to Premier League clubs for the behavior of fans including offensive chants, lighting flares and hurling snowballs at a raft of weekend matches.
The union regularly hands down fines, but these appeared to be largest in the last few months.
Saturday's Moscow derby between Dynamo and Spartak, which the visitors won 3-1, was adjudged to have been the worst offender.
The game was stopped on several occasions as fans threw snowballs and other objects at Dynamo players.
Spartak and Dynamo were fined a total of about $10,000 for their supporters' behavior, the union said in a website statement.
League leaders Zenit St. Petersburg were issued with a $7,000 fine for illegal pyrotechnics in their 1-1 draw with Rubin, and a further $3,000 for offensive chanting.
Lesser fines for the same violations were handed to CSKA Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow, Terek Grozny and FC Krasnodar.
