Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Sunday departed for South Korea and India, where he will attend a nuclear summit in Seoul and a meeting of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) heads of state in Delhi.

The 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit will run on March 26-27, 2012. It will focus on international cooperative measures to protect nuclear materials and facilities from terrorist groups. On the fields of the summit, Medvedev will meet with U.S. President Barack Obama to discuss plans for the projected deployment of a U.S. missile shield in Europe and the Syrian conflict, presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko said earlier. Medvedev will also meet with S. Korea President Lee Myung-bak to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

After Seoul, Medvedev will visit New Delhi for a meeting of the BRICS heads of state. On the fields of the meeting he will hold talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
