Striker Lacina Traore has extended his contract at Russian Premier League side FC Kuban to 2016, the club website said Thursday.
Traore has won plaudits in his first season at Kuban for helping the newly-promoted side into the top half of the table with 15 goals in 27 league appearances.
A total of five FC Kuban players have extended their contracts after the club fought off interest in other Russian and European clubs, general director Suren Mkrtchyan said in website comments.
The 21-year-old Traore joined FC Kuban from Romanian side CFR Cluj, where he scored in the Champions League against AS Roma and FC Basel in 2010.
His 15-goal haul in the Russian Premier League this season makes him the division’s third-best scorer.
