Cancer-stricken Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced on his Twitter account he was "soaring like a condor," after undergoing surgery earlier in the week in Cuba.
“I send you all my neverending love. We will live and we will recover!” Chavez wrote on Wednesday evening on his Twitter page, addding: “I'm soaring like the condor.”
Cuban doctors operated on Chavez on Monday night to remove a tumor. The new formation was detected in roughly the same spot where Chavez had a malignant tumor of the intestine, which was removed in summer 2011.
Vice-President Elias Jaua also made a statement about Chavez’s health in an interview to Venezolana de Television channel, saying that the presidents is “well on the road to recovery.”
Former Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, as well as current President Dilma Rousseff and Paraguay's leader Fernando Lugo have all been diagnosed with cancer in recent years.
